I picked up a Vango Force 10 MK2 in a charity shop in Golspie a few years ago � for the princely sum of �4. It turned out to be in good condition (age unknown), and I have used it several times now, in a variety of weather conditions. I have decided to write a review and post some photos as there are not many of these around now.

The MK2 differs from the rest of the Classic Force 10 range in that the rear A pole has been replaced with a short aluminium 2 section vertical pole, and consequently the ridge slopes down towards the rear. On my model, the rearmost ridge pole section is made out of galvanised steel instead of aluminium. In all other respects the construction is the same as the MK3 and the rest of the range.

Pitching is just as easy as for a standard Force 10; inner first, but the single rear pole is not self-supporting until you attach the inner. The inner is cotton and the flysheet nylon on my model, but I do believe that cotton flysheet models were available too.

Dimensions of the inner are approximately 190cm long, 130cm wide at the front, 92cm wide at the rear. Internal height is 95cm at the front, dropping to around 60cm at the rear. It is just big enough for me to sit in, and wide enough for one to sleep in comfortably, or two uncomfortably at a pinch: I�m not sure whether this was marketed as 1 or 2 berth. The inner space is significantly shorter than that of a MK3; it is truncated in line with the rear pole instead of having a rear bell extending underneath and beyond the rear A pole. Length would be an issue for someone over 6�.

Weight is around 4kg, including pegs.

Overall I�m giving the Force 10 MK2 a rating of 9/10, rather than the 10 that I gave the MK4. The point is deducted for the short inner length, and the use of steel in the ridge pole, but this is still an excellent tent for solo all season �boot of the car� use.
